Welcome to Purple Aurora SEND Short Breaks

At Purple Aurora, we specialise in providing fun, safe, and inclusive short breaks for children and young people aged 8 to 25 with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, and complex needs.

We believe every child deserves the opportunity to experience joy, build confidence, and create lasting memories. Our sessions are filled with structured play, creative activities, community outings, and fun-based numeracy and literacy games designed to support communication, social development, and everyday life skills — all delivered in a pressure-free, child-led environment.

Our dedicated team of trained professionals is committed to ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and happiness of every child in our care. Whether it’s a trip to the zoo, a sensory art session, or a playful group game, every experience is designed with the needs of the child at the centre.

Our Approach

At Purple Aurora, our focus is to provide safe, inclusive, and enriching short breaks for children and young people with SEND. Our approach is rooted in experience, empathy, and evidence-based practice, ensuring every child receives care and support that is both compassionate and professional.

We have extensive experience working with children with autism (ASD), ADHD, moderate to severe learning difficulties (MLD/SLD), and profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). Our staff are trained in positive behaviour support strategies and use tested, low-arousal behaviour management approaches that are tailored to each individual’s needs.

We understand that communication styles, sensory profiles, and emotional needs can vary greatly. That’s why we incorporate visual schedules, sensory regulation tools, structured routines, and accessible communication methods (such as PECS and Makaton) to promote engagement, reduce anxiety, and build trust.

We work closely with families, schools, and local authorities to ensure that our short breaks are not only enjoyable but also aligned with each child’s needs, EHCP goals, and family priorities. Our aim is to create spaces where children can feel confident, connected, and understood — while families gain meaningful respite.
